Adelabu assures stable power supply in Ramadan

Says Ministry is working very hard

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on Saturday promised that there would be stable power supply in the holy month of Ramadan which commenced on Saturday.

In his message to all Muslims, Adelabu said he was aware of the challenges faced by Nigerians as far as electricity is concerned.

The minister said the Ministry is working hard to ensure the supply of stable electricity during this period of fasting and beyond.

He acknowledged that Muslims would need increased energy consumption during the period of fasting.

He expressed his awareness as the Minister of Power, of the challenges that many Nigerians face, particularly in the area of electricity supply.

He was quoted as saying, “I understand that the observance of Ramadan often requires increased energy consumption, especially during the pre-dawn (Suhoor) and post-sunset (Iftar) meals, as well as during nightly prayers (Taraweeh).

“I want to assure the Muslim community that the Federal Ministry of Power is working tirelessly to ensure stable and reliable power supply during this holy month and beyond,”

He disclosed that the Federal Government is committed to addressing the issues of grid collapses while improving power infrastructure.

He further stated the Ministry’s committment to improving the nation’s power infrastructure, addressing issues of grid instability, and expanding access to electricity for all Nigerians.

He stressed that the Ministry’s goal is to ensure that every household can observe Ramadan with comfort and dignity.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is a sacred month of fasting, reflection, and spiritual growth for Muslims around the world.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from food and drink, and focus on prayer, charity, and self-improvement.

This year’s Ramadan is expected to end around March 30, 2025, with the celebratory days of Eid el-Fitr starting around the same time. The exact dates  depend on the sighting of the moon, but March 30 is the predicted end date.
