Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has alleged that security agents were ordered to withdraw from polling units and collation centres across the state.
Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the Accord Party platform, raised the alarm in a post on X on Saturday, claiming the alleged withdrawal could expose voters and Independent National Electoral Commission officials to attacks.
He urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene and direct the Inspector-General of Police and Director-General of the Department of State Services to prevent any disruption of the electoral process.
Adeleke also alleged that some politicians were attempting to hijack or disrupt the collation of results at various centres across the state.
He called on the President to ensure that security agencies protect voters and electoral officials and allow all votes cast during the governorship election to be properly counted and reflected in the final result.
The allegations come as INEC continues the sorting, counting and collation of results from Saturday’s governorship election amid heightened political tension across Osun State.
