Iranian President, Sayyid Ebrahim Raeisi says the continent of Africa has an important position in the country’s foreign policy.

President Raeisi made the remarks while speaking to reporters at Mehr Abad International Airport before departing for Algeria. He arrived in Algiers on Saturday morning.

Raeisi said that his visit to Algiers is taking place upon an invitation by his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

He added that he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings and participate in the 7th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit of Heads of State and Government in Algeria.

The Iranian nation considers Algeria to be a country that has fought colonialism and stands against the colonialists, he said, adding, “The position of Algeria in Africa and in North Africa is special and the relations between Iran and Algeria can help our relations with other African countries.”

He also hailed the position of the African country in supporting the oppressed Palestinian nation.

Algeria is a very favorable market for our businessmen, and Islamic Iran can be a favorable ground for communication with Algerian businessmen due to its relationship with the littoral states of the Persian Gulf and Central Asia, he further stressed.

“Iran can definitely be the hub of the region due to its interactions with the littoral countries of the Persian Gulf and the countries of Central Asia, and being a producer and exporter of gas, he underlined.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Raeisi hailed the Iranian nation’s glorious participation in the parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections on Friday.
