Again, Gunmen Kill Three in Kwara as Residents Flee for Safety

Terror struck Idofin Odo-Ase, a peaceful community in Oke Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State, on Thursday night when armed terrorists invaded the area, killing at least three residents and sending villagers fleeing in fear.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the community at dusk, shooting sporadically and breaking into homes.
SaharaReporters obtained disturbing videos and photos showing the lifeless bodies of the victims two shot and one stabbed during the brutal assault that has thrown the entire Kwara South region into panic.
“They came suddenly, shooting and shouting,” a resident recounted. “We ran into the bush, but three people were killed instantly.
People are leaving the community this morning because no one knows if they will come back.”
The source added that no security operatives were present during or after the attack. “We didn’t see police or soldiers.
The killers moved freely. Everyone is scared. Families are packing their belongings and running to nearby towns,” he said.
The gruesome incident adds to the rising wave of insecurity in Kwara State’s rural areas. Just hours earlier, SaharaReporters had reported another attack in Efagi village under Lafiagi Emirate in Edu Local Government Area, where bandits kidnapped a couple and injured a local vigilante member.
According to local witnesses, the bandits invaded Efagi village around 1 a.m., shooting indiscriminately as they stormed the area.
During the chaos, they abducted a man and his wife, leaving a vigilante member wounded after he attempted to resist the attackers.
However, swift intervention by troops of the Nigerian Army helped rescue the kidnapped woman, though her husband remains in captivity.
“The Army arrived instantly and engaged the bandits in a gun duel,” a resident told NupekoTV Lafiagi. “They were able to rescue the woman from their hands.”
The twin attacks in Oke Ero and Edu local governments underscore the deepening security crisis across Kwara’s rural communities, where residents continue to live in constant fear of terrorists and kidnappers.
Community leaders have repeatedly appealed to security agencies and the state government to deploy more personnel to vulnerable border areas.
Many locals now believe the bandits are exploiting porous forest routes linking Kwara to Kogi and Niger States.
As tension heightens, hundreds of displaced residents from Idofin Odo-Ase have reportedly fled to neighboring towns, including Ilofa and Ekan-Meje, for safety.
Security experts warn that unless swift action is taken, the persistent attacks could further destabilize the once-tranquil Kwara South region.

Terrorists Kill 4, Kidnap ECWA Reverend, Children
Terrorists have attacked the Gidan Waya community in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing four people and abducting 12 others, including an ECWA Church Reverend, women, and minors.
Community members, who released photographs of the abducted residents, appealed for their immediate and safe release.
Amnesty International confirmed the attack in a statement, noting that the incident occurred on the night of 11 November 2025.
The organisation condemned the killings and abductions, stressing that the incident reflects the continued inability of Nigerian authorities to protect citizens from armed groups.
“Amnesty International strongly condemns gunmen’s attack on Gidan Waya… in which 4 people were killed and 12 people abducted – including children of 13, 14 and 15 years old,” the group said.
The rights organisation further stated that since 2016, rural communities across parts of northern Nigeria have lived under constant threat from armed groups, leading to widespread displacement. Plateau, Zamfara, southern Kaduna, Benue, and Katsina are among the worst-affected areas.
SaharaReporters earlier published photographs of the kidnapped victims, drawing renewed attention to the community’s worsening security crisis.
The latest attack adds to a series of violent incidents across the North, with many rural communities abandoned due to fear of repeated assaults.

PHOTO: Nigerian Brigade Commander executed by ISWAP has been identified as Brigadier General Uba
The Brigade Commander executed by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), has been identified as Brigadier General M. Uba.
Diaspora Digital Media earlier reported that General Uba was executed after the terror group intercepted details of his location.
Though, the tragic development follows a successful joint operation in the Damboa–Biu axis of Borno State, where Nigerian Army troops and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members were rescued from an ISWAP ambush with the support of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft.
The Brigade Commander, who had earlier confirmed his safety to superior officers after the operation, was tracked down by ISWAP militants who reportedly intercepted communications revealing his secure location.
Sources claim he was captured, interrogated, and later executed.
The initial operation had been launched to counter ISWAP forces after ground troops, led by the Commander, unknowingly navigated a booby-trapped route and came under heavy ambush.
Facing a surge in enemy numbers, the Commander ordered a tactical withdrawal and called for air support.
NAF aircraft swiftly responded, providing critical relief that allowed the troops and CJTF members to escape.
The joint operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of numerous terrorists, with minimal casualties on the military side.
The killing of the Commander underscores the persistent operational risks faced by military personnel and underscores the urgent need for absolute security in communication protocols within the North-East region
