Air Peace has expanded its fleet with the addition of another Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft as part of efforts to meet rising passenger demand across domestic and regional routes.

According to a statement released by the airline on Tuesday, the newly acquired aircraft, registered as 5N-CGD, arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

The airline said the aircraft is configured with 189 Economy Class seats and is expected to improve passenger capacity, operational efficiency and onboard comfort.

Air Peace stated that the Boeing 737-800 NG features a spacious cabin design, larger overhead storage compartments, advanced avionics, modern safety systems and fuel-efficient engines.

“The addition of this aircraft is part of our strategic drive to meet rising passenger demand across domestic and regional markets,” the airline said.

According to the carrier, the aircraft will support improved route deployment and strengthen schedule reliability across its expanding network within Nigeria and other African destinations.

“The Boeing 737-800 NG is designed to deliver enhanced passenger comfort, operational efficiency and scheduling flexibility across both domestic and regional routes,” the airline added.

Air Peace also highlighted the environmental and economic advantages of the aircraft, noting that its fuel-efficient engines would help lower operating costs and reduce carbon emissions.

The airline said the expansion aligns with its broader goal of positioning Nigeria as a major aviation hub in Africa while improving regional connectivity and supporting economic growth.

Meanwhile, Air Peace has also launched direct commercial flights between Lagos and Barbados in a move aimed at improving air connectivity between Africa and the Caribbean.

The airline confirmed that it successfully operated its inaugural scheduled commercial service from Lagos to Barbados on May 24 using its Boeing 777 aircraft.

More than 284 passengers travelled on the maiden flight, including the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nowel Ngala, Barbados High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ghana and Liberia, Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland, actress Temitope Olowoniyan, as well as other airline delegates.

According to Air Peace, the Lagos-Barbados route is expected to reduce the burden of multiple stopovers, long transit times and complex visa requirements often faced by travellers moving between Africa and the Caribbean.

The airline said the route would provide a more direct and convenient travel option for tourists, business travellers, diaspora communities and cultural exchange programmes across both regions.

Industry stakeholders described the launch as a significant milestone in Air Peace’s international expansion and a strategic move toward positioning Nigeria as a stronger aviation gateway in Africa.

The airline added that the Barbados connection would create new opportunities for tourism, trade, investment and stronger cultural ties between West Africa and the Caribbean.

Following the inaugural trip, the carrier was expected to operate its first commercial return flight from Barbados to Lagos on May 25, while subsequent services are scheduled to operate twice monthly.
