Senate President Godswill Akpabio has vehemently denied any connection to a political rally reportedly organized by the Progressive Peoples’ Resolution (PPR).

On Thursday, his media aide, Jackson Udom, issued a statement explicitly disowning the April 4, 2025, event.

The office confirmed that the group, led by Ubong Idemudo, is unaffiliated with Senator Godswill Akpabio.

In a statement titled “Disregard Any Rally in Akwa Ibom Purported to Be in Support of Akpabio,” officials urged citizens to ignore the gathering.

Additionally, Akpabio condemned the event, labeling it a “satanic rally” organized by those exploiting his reputation. He emphasized his commitment to peace and cautioned against disruptive political agendas.

Meanwhile, Akpabio directed security agencies to prevent the rally, citing potential threats to public order. He asserted, “Fifth columnists aim to misuse my name for devilish goals.” Moreover, his office accused Idemudo, labeled a “controversial figure,” of fronting this unauthorized event and sternly advised supporters and residents to avoid participation.

Furthermore, the statement clarified that Akpabio neither approved nor endorsed the PPR’s activities. His team linked the rally to unnamed actors pursuing “nefarious motives,” urging citizens to remain vigilant against misinformation. Consequently, security operatives were tasked with enforcing compliance to maintain stability in the region.

In conclusion, Akpabio reaffirmed his commitment to the unity of Akwa Ibom, encouraging citizens to reject divisive tactics. While police and security agencies have not outlined intervention plans, swift action is anticipated to prevent potential unrest.

Public skepticism grows as transparency demands escalate.

As of now, Ubong Idemudo and PPR representatives have not responded to the allegations. Analysts speculate the rally signals deepening political rivalries ahead of 2025 elections. Akpabio’s proactive disavowal aims to preempt misinterpretations of his affiliations and intentions.

Critics argue such controversies erode public trust in leadership amid polarized climates. Conversely, supporters applaud Akpabio’s transparency in addressing potential threats promptly. The situation remains fluid, with authorities closely monitoring developments.

Akwa Ibom residents now await official updates from law enforcement agencies. For now, Akpabio’s message resonates clearly: unity and legality must triumph over clandestine agendas. His stance underscores a strategic effort to safeguard his political integrity.
