The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Damagun, has dismissed reports of his resignation as false.

In a statement released on Saturday, his Personal Assistant, Nuru Shehu Jos, described the claims as fake news.

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM), he stated that the rumors were a deliberate attempt by mischief-makers to create confusion and destabilize the party.

The PDP clarified that Ambassador Damagun remains in his position and has not stepped down.

The party emphasized that its constitution guarantees the national chairman a four-year tenure in the first instance.

“Our attention has been drawn to a fabricated report claiming that Ambassador Umar Damagun has resigned,” the statement read.

The party further described the resignation reports as baseless and intended to mislead the public.

The PDP strongly refuted allegations that Arise News was the source of the false resignation report.

It urged the public to disregard the misleading information circulating about the party’s leadership.

The statement warned those spreading misinformation to desist or risk facing legal consequences.

“We insist that this malicious content against Ambassador Damagun is false and defamatory,” the PDP stated.

The party described the false reports as a criminal act that would soon attract legal repercussions.

It assured PDP members, stakeholders, and supporters that the party remains stable under Damagun’s leadership.

The PDP called on all members to ignore the rumors and stay united.

“We call on PDP elders, stakeholders, youth, and women’s groups to remain focused,” the statement added.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its internal structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
