There are indications of mass return of Ndi Anambra this holiday season following the peaceful and conclusive elections process in addition to the typical Christmas season mood for Ndi Anambra.
Government therefore is determined to maintain our now traditional conducive atmosphere for Christmas and New Year celebrations for Ndi Anambra.
His Excellency Governor Willie Obiano has approved an Advisory to our people. This advisory is therefore to guide us in five parts and are basically reminders to Ndi Anambra and all residents and guests.

5. Bush Fires
1. SECURITY: Government requests everybody and all Public Organisations to improve their security consciousness before, during and after the yuletide period.
Banks and filling stations are thus advised to have their premises well lit up and activate their Close Circuit TV systems.
Government has installed street lights across major roads in various communities. All citizens are urged to take ownership of these projects and protect them.
Mosques and Churches are advised to be mindful of their environment and their security. Security agencies have been directed to be alert on all shanties in major Housing Estates in our major cities.
Market leaders are urged to define their closing times and have their neighbourhood watch up and doing.
Furthermore, plain clothes policemen are on patrol at major critical points in our major towns and conurbations and at various entertainment and Holiday Resorts.
2. BEAUTIFICATION: Government urges individuals, companies and other organisations to take up the decoration and beautification of streets and roundabouts in their vicinity to complement government’s efforts in this regard.
Government is encouraging Ndi Anambra to keep their homes, offices and environments clean. Buildings with faded paints should be repainted to give such buildings a facelift.
Environment officials will be visiting various communities and will take note of compliance levels. Subsequently, there will be prizes for the cleanest homes, towns and Local Government Areas.
3. TRAFFIC CONTROL: The traffic management will be coordinated by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The Anambra Traffic Management (ATMA) working round the clock throughout the season; in particular taking care of all the junctions and roundabouts. Government plans to have about 10 critical locations across the state improved with traffic light systems.
Government has increased road diversions with signposts; those are roads that are nearest to main roads, to stave off bottlenecks. All road users are advised to look out for these and utilize them.
All dysfunctional vehicles will be removed from all major roads, and Anambra Traffic Management Agency has been directed to commence this exercise from Friday, December 15, 2017 and will work in close collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps operatives.
4. FIRECRACKERS/MASQUERADES: Government wishes to remind Ndi Anambra that these items remain banned through National Legislation. We, therefore, ask our people to obey the law and stay away from use of fireworks.
Our masquerades should keep off the major highways as not to congest our roads. We expect their appearances should be at Village Squares, Civic Centres, Town Halls and not the main roads.
5. BUSH FIRES: This is totally discouraged at this time. It is a major trigger for fire disasters in the harmattan season as well as with deserted areas and holiday travels. Every community and its President General should harp on this matter and save invariable disaster.
Finally, Government is satisfied that the existing security architecture installed is working. Our people have cooperated to make our state remain the safest in the country. We expect no less.
This advisory is , therefore, to ensure that there is no security breach anywhere in the State during and after the celebrations; to request all of us to provide a clean, healthy and beautiful Anambra, to assure that our road management will be proactive and wish a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year celebration to Ndi Anambra.
