A group of Anambra youths under the aegis of Anambra New Generation Vanguard (ANGeV)has expressed strong desire to have one of their own lead the state in the next four years.

They also bitterly denounced exclusion of youth from governance, decision making and their use for only anti-democratic roles including political thuggery, election rigging, ballot box stuffing and snatching, as well as such condemnable acts.

They described Anambra state as enormously blessed and endowed but was sadly administratively being progressively strangulated and comatose presently. That despair runs high everywhere as youths were abandoned and neglected while only lip service was paid to issues concerning them. There’s therefore need for urgent intervention from a dedicated man of many parts who has no baggage, political, social or economic scores to settle with anyone, let alone a godfather.

Addressing journalists in Awka yesterday, ANGeV Coordinator, Obiora Ezeudu declared that enough was really enough, and that things must change henceforth positively for the youths and the state.

Drawn from the 21 Council areas of the state, the youths therefore issued a 21-day ultimatum to one of their own, Johnbosco Onunkwo, to take up the challenge and join in the coming November 18,2017 governorship race of the state.

In their 3-page resolution from a general meeting of ANGeV, as follow-up to an earlier New Conversation summit which according to them drew above five million youth, supporters and observers, ” we the youths of Anambra state…. urge Engr Johnbosco Onunkwo to fly the flag of the youths in the upcoming Governorship elections.

“We urge him to present himself to run for governor in the upcoming election as the candidate of the youths, and that he has the support of over two million youths from across the 21 council areas of the state…”

Lamenting that over the years elites who had cornered everything normally come around during elections with sugar-coated tongues, make promises but have likewise abandoned them once they win.

They expressed deep conviction of Onunkwo’s qualities, ability and capability as a man who always use his personal resources to the benefit and good of the society. That he has a foundation through which he has always intervened in the lives of indigent citizens, given out more than 300 scholarship, annual talent hunt football tournament and most recently doled out One million Naira to the bedridden Ogidi-born popular Nollywood actor, movie producer and director Obi Madubuogwu who had been appealing to all for funds to enable him access better Medicare.
