A 36-year-old Nigerian rental car operator was on Wednesday given the death penalty by the Shah Alam High Court for trafficking drugs about four years ago.

Judge Datuk Akhtar Tahir sentenced Alexis Zogbelemow on Wednesday after finding him guilty of the offence involving 824.1 grammes of Methamphetamine.

The judge ruled that Alexis’ defence statement was fabricated and merely a denial.

Mr. Zogbelemow was caught in the main arrival hall of Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Sepang, on February 28, 2012.
