Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has said individuals who always visit churches to testify about receiving miracle money should be arrested.
The practice of giving outrageous testimonies on how one received unexpected bank credits after prayers is a common occurrence in some Nigerian churches, a development portrayed as miracle.
Obi who expressed strong opposition to the practice during a snippet of the Honest Bunch Podcast with media personality, Nedu described it as theft.
“Anybody who tells you he has gotten miraculous money should be arrested, he has stolen somebody’s money, simple,” Obi stated.
He further explained what he believed to be the true nature of divine blessings.
“God can bless handiwork, productivity, and industry. But He cannot bless someone who is sleeping. Anybody who says he got alert from praying should be arrested. You have stolen somebody’s money,” Obi added.
The former governor of Anambra State during the podcast also said politics and church are attractive but have to be dismantled, and night vigil should be turned into the night shift so that people can be productive.
He said, “It’s attractive, politics and church, but it has to be dismantled.
“We are going to turn night vigil into night shift so that people can be productive.
“I go to church and believe in God but we can’t have it that people Monday to Friday, be in church morning and night.
“If I go from here to my house, the only sign boards you see are those of churches.
“If you go to the East, it’s burials and that’s not a country.”
