Arewa think tank condemns Edo killings, calls for national unity

The Arewa Think Tank has strongly condemned the killing of 16 hunters in Edo State.
“Arewa Think Asusun tunani na Arewa yana da nufin samar da wani dandali na tattaunawa da nazarin matsalolin da suka shafi yankin Arewa, tare da bayar da shawarwari masu amfani ga shugabanni da al’umma don samun ci gaba da bunkasar yankin gaba ɗaya.
“Matsayin da kungiyar ke takawa wajen bincika da kuma kawo mafita yana da matuƙar muhimmanci ga kyautata rayuwar jama’a da kuma tabbatar da dorewar cigaba ta kowanne fanni.”
According to Diaspora digital media (DDM), the northern advocacy group also warned against attempts to use the incident to create division between the North and South.
During the event, the group’s convener, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, emphasized the importance of national unity.
He expressed deep sorrow over the brutal killing of the hunters and called for justice.
“We are all heartbroken by this terrible incident,” Yakubu stated.
He warned that the tragedy must not be used as a tool to incite regional hatred.
“This tragedy must not be turned into a weapon for inciting hatred,” he added.
Yakubu emphasized that those who thrive on division and conflict would not succeed.
He praised President Tinubu for taking immediate action to address the situation.
“The President acted swiftly, showing that he is a leader for all Nigerians,” he said.
Yakubu noted that Tinubu did not politicize the matter but demonstrated strong leadership.
He criticized those trying to use the killings for political advantage.
“Some people never see anything positive in this administration,” Yakubu remarked.
He accused certain individuals of attempting to twist the event to create political instability.
“But they will not succeed because President Tinubu is ahead of them in working for Nigeria’s progress,” he declared.
Yakubu urged Nigerians to reject divisive narratives and remain united.
He stressed that ensuring national peace and security is a collective responsibility.
The prayer session featured religious leaders who urged Nigerians to support their leaders through prayers.
Sheikh Yahaya Musa and Abdulkareem Abumujahidah led prayers for the nation’s peace and progress.
“There is nothing wrong with praying for our leaders,” Sheikh Musa stated.

Former Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero commended the initiative and praised the Arewa Think Tank.
