Demola Olarewaju, the Special Assistant on Digital Media and Strategy to Atiku Abubakar, has criticized President Bola Tinubu.

He accused Tinubu’s government of causing severe hardship for Nigerians and worsening their suffering since May 2023.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that Olarewaju posted a statement on his official X account, condemning the administration’s economic policies and their impact on Nigerians.

He claimed the suffering was widespread, with many forced to smile despite enduring hardship due to mismanagement.

Olarewaju criticized Tinubu’s decisions, particularly the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of the exchange rate.

These actions, according to Olarewaju, have made life harder for ordinary citizens across the country.

He argued that supporters of Tinubu’s administration ignore the suffering, often due to ethnic loyalty, party allegiance, or financial gain.

Olarewaju remarked, “Spare a moment this Monday evening to think of the not too many lost souls.”

He continued, “They suffer but smile under the weight of Tinubu’s misgovernance, forced to smile by imaginary reasons.”

Social media users quickly reacted, many agreeing with Olarewaju’s assessment of the worsening economic situation.

Nigerians have raised concerns about the rising cost of living and high unemployment under the current government.

Since taking office in May 2023, President Tinubu introduced economic reforms, aiming for long-term growth and stability.

The removal of fuel subsidies resulted in a sharp increase in fuel prices and higher transportation costs.

The unification of the exchange rate also caused the naira to depreciate, contributing to inflationary pressures.

In contrast, Tinubu’s supporters argue that these reforms are necessary for Nigeria’s economic growth and competitiveness.

They believe that these difficult policies will bring long-term benefits, even if they cause short-term discomfort.

Olarewaju, however, remains critical of the government’s failure to address the immediate suffering faced by Nigerians.

He emphasized that the administration has not shown enough urgency in tackling poverty and unemployment issues.

Atiku Abubakar’s PDP continues to oppose the current government’s handling of the economy, calling for better solutions.

Olarewaju’s remarks have sparked debate, with many Nigerians questioning whether the government is truly prioritizing their well-being.
