Nottingham Forest recorded an important 2-1 away victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night in the Premier League.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the win strengthens Forest’s ambition of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi made a return from injury to feature in the encounter for Forest.

Awoniyi had been out of action since early April due to a hamstring problem.

He was introduced in the 75th minute, replacing New Zealand forward Chris Wood.

Though he did not score, Awoniyi’s presence brought renewed energy to Forest’s attack.

His involvement helped the team maintain their structure and composure in the final stages of the game.

Forest’s head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, will be encouraged by Awoniyi’s recovery and contribution.

Another Nigerian player, Ola Aina, missed the match due to a muscle injury.

With this win, Forest retained their third place in the Premier League standings.

They now have 60 points, putting them in a strong position to finish inside the top four.

The match began with Forest taking an early lead just five minutes into the game.

Elliot Anderson opened the scoring after a swift attacking move by the visitors.

In the 10th minute, Forest thought they had doubled their lead through Chris Wood.

However, the goal was ruled out after a VAR check for offside in the buildup.

Despite the setback, Forest kept pushing forward with confidence.

Their persistence paid off six minutes later when Wood scored again in the 16th minute.

This time, the goal stood, giving Forest a two-goal cushion in the early part of the match.

Tottenham tried to respond but lacked coordination in the final third.

The home crowd grew restless as Spurs failed to break through Forest’s solid defensive setup.

Brazilian forward Richarlison managed to reduce the deficit in the 87th minute.

His goal gave Tottenham hope of a late comeback.

But Forest held firm, closing down spaces and frustrating Spurs’ attack.

The match ended 2-1 in favour of the visitors.

The result leaves Tottenham in 16th place on the league table.

They remain on 37 points, facing a difficult path in their remaining fixtures.

This latest loss adds to the concerns surrounding Tottenham’s disappointing campaign.

In contrast, Forest’s form under Nuno Espirito Santo has continued to improve.

They now look like serious contenders for a Champions League spot.

With Awoniyi back and key players finding form, Forest’s confidence is on the rise.

They will aim to maintain this momentum in their final matches of the season.
