Ghana opens camp ahead of All African Games

Ghana, host of the 13th edition of the All African Games, AAG, has opened camp for its athletes ahead of the sports competition where all African nation’s are billed to compete.

The 13th African Games involving 25 sports will hold from 8th to 23rd March, 2024 in Accra, Ghana at the new Borteyman Sports Complex and Legon.

DDM gathers that the various National Sports Federation in Ghana have put their athletes in camp and supported by the Ghanaian Government.

This, however, is not same for most countries.

In Nigeria, for instance, only its athletics federation has come with a comprehensive camping process.

But Ghana’s chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare hailed the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo for providing support to team Ghana.

He revealed that members of the committee have done well in ensuring that the facilities are ready for the Games.

Ofosu-Asare said, “I want to thank President Nana Akufo-Addo on his stand not to pull out when things were not moving well. The President has pledged his full support to the success of the African Games. I will not forget to give credit to the former Sports Minister, Hon Isaac Asiamah for initiating the project to host the biggest sporting festival on the continent of Africa.

He lauded the current Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon Mustapha Ussif for his commitment and ensuring that progress is made on the facilities for the Games.

Ernest Danso, CDM for Team Ghana who is also President of Ghana Baseball commended the government and Ministry of Youth & Sports for providing financial support on time for the athletes camping and preparations.
