Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has recounted a prophecy he received before his imprisonment, saying he was told that a major calamity would befall him before he could attain greatness.
The actor made the revelation during a courtesy visit to Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho at his residence on October 10, 2026, where the activist’s birthday was celebrated in the presence of veteran broadcaster Kolo Olootu.
Speaking at the gathering, Baba Ijesha recalled how someone had predicted that he would become a great man but would first experience a devastating period that would bring him to tears.
“Before I went to prison, someone saw a revelation about me that I’ll be a great man, but a huge calamity will befall me that’ll make me shed lots of tears before the prophecy will eventually come to pass. It was after then I went to prison,” the actor said.
His remarks have attracted attention online, particularly because they link the prophecy to his subsequent imprisonment and the difficult period that followed.
Baba Ijesha was arrested and prosecuted in a case involving the sexual abuse of a minor. In July 2022, the Lagos State High Court sentenced him to 16 years in prison for offences arising from the case.
He spent more than three years in custody before his release in November 2025, following a Court of Appeal decision that overturned aspects of the earlier judgment. The case generated widespread public debate about child protection, sexual offences and the administration of justice.
Since his release, the actor has spoken about beginning a new chapter in his life. In June 2026, he disclosed that he had married celebrity fashion designer Luminee and that they had welcomed a son, whom they named King Kagar.
The visit to Sunday Igboho also brought renewed attention to the relationship between the two men. During the gathering, Baba Ijesha reportedly praised Igboho for supporting him financially and helping arrange telephone conversations while they were both detained in separate countries.
Igboho confirmed that they had maintained contact during that period, when Baba Ijesha was imprisoned in Nigeria and the activist was held in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
The gathering therefore provided an opportunity for Baba Ijesha to reflect on his experiences before and during imprisonment, while acknowledging the support he said he received during a difficult period.
Although the actor described the prophecy as significant in light of subsequent events, his comments represent his personal account of the experience and his interpretation of what followed.
