*State House of Assembly summons State Commissioner for Finance over bailout*

The effort made by the Federal Government of granting a Bailout loan to settle all outstanding Leave Grants and salaries to the civil servants in Adamawa state has drawn the attention of the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa.

Hon. Mijinyawa, yesterday, tasked executive arm on accountability and proper use of the procured money.

Mijinyawa, who spoke against the backdrop of his alleged strained relationship with his co- legislators, maintained that he would not be cowered into taking any action that is against the interest and stability of the state.

He stated that although he remained averse to impeachment he however stressed that the only thing that would make him move against the executive is if the governor fails to heed to his advice of being financially prudent and evidence abounds of gross misconduct.

He said as a result he has consistently cautioned Governor Sen. Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow not to do anything with the bailout funds given to the state outside of the purposes for which it was received.

As the Adamawa legislature resumed from its protracted recess, the Speaker of the Adamawa House of Assembly Hon. Mijinyawa is alleged to be confronted with a strained relationship with his constituent whose grumbling against him, is linked to accusations of him not doing enough to bring dividends of governance to the lawmakers.

But Mijinyawa who was reacting to the development, yesterday in his office said “I am not here for impeachment. Count me out of any impeachment,” he said, noting that the change mantra must be evident in the polity.

The speaker explained that one thing he would not do is to succumb to the wishes of those he termed to be into politics for “self-aggrandizement” to push him into trying to get anything from the executive arm of government by way of “crook”.

He noted that while not trying to sound like been protective of the executive arm, he said he remained an ardent believer on the need protect the institutions of government unhealthy rivalry.

He therefore said the house under him will not seek to box the executive to a corner just to get want it wants.

In a related development, the Adamawa State House of Assembly has on Tuesday passed a resolution directing the state Commissioner for Finance to appear before it on Wednesday to brief it on the utilization of the state N7.2 billion bailout fund.

The resolution came under “Matter of Urgent Public Importance” raised by the Alhaji Abubakar Abdulrahman (APC-Mubi South)

Abdulrahman who is the House Committee Chairman on Appropriation, Budget and Finance observed that in spite of an earlier resolution passed last week by the house directing the ministry of finance to furnish the house with the detailed framework use in disbursing the bailout money received from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the ministry was yet to response.

“The Governor should direct the commissioner to come and explain the disbursement to the house within 24 hours”, Abdulrahman said.

Other members who contributed in plenary including Mallam Abubakar Atiku (APC-Uba/Gaya) and Mallam Aminu Aliyu (APC-Song) declare support on the need to summon the commissioner to brief the house.

Speaking after the motion was passed unanimously in a voice vote, the Speaker, Alhaji Kabiru Mijinyawa, directed the clerk of the house to communicate to the commissioner to appear before the house on Wednesday.
