At least 68 persons were abducted with one shot dead when heavily armed gunmen attacked Zazzaga community in Munya council of Niger State Tuesday night.

Local sources said the gunmen took the residents unawares, killing one person during the onslaught.

The bandits went from house to house following which four persons were shot with many more injured while trying to escape.

It was gathered that the abductors are yet to contact family members for ransom.

In a related incident, recall that News.band reported that the kidnappers of members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) had demand N40 million ransom for their release.

NULGE National President, Comrade Akeem Ambali Olatunji, disclosed this while briefing reporters on Tuesday in Abuja.

Twelve NULGE members working with the Zaria Local Government in Kaduna State were, according to reports, kidnapped on November 8.

The union, which decried the silence of the Kaduna State government since their abduction, warned that the union would take drastic action if their plea for the release of the workers fell on deaf ears.
