Bashir El-Rufai urges ADC to field Peter Obi as Presidential candidate

Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has made a bold statement about the upcoming 2027 presidential election in Nigeria.

According to him, while Atiku Abubakar is a formidable force in Nigerian politics, Peter Obi’s massive support base and devoted following pose a significant challenge to Atiku’s presidential ambitions.

Bashir believes that Atiku Abubakar, a seasoned politician and former Vice President, remains a strong contender for the 2027 presidency.

However, he thinks Peter Obi’s appeal to the youth and his cult-like followership could be Atiku’s downfall.

In a post on his X handle, Bashir stated, “Atiku is a force to be reckoned with. He also feels the stars have finally aligned in his favor. And although 2019 is thought to have been his best shot, this may be one of those ‘moment meets the man'”

Bashir highlighted Peter Obi’s growing influence, particularly among younger Nigerians, as a significant factor that could redefine the electoral dynamics in 2027.

According to him, Obi’s sheer force of numbers and devoted followers bring a challenge that Atiku might struggle to overcome.

Bashir noted that Obi’s appeal across the youth and younger generation is a profound aspect of his leverage.

In a striking statement, Bashir claimed that if Peter Obi were to run as the flag bearer with a strong Northern candidate, he would defeat President Bola Tinubu (referred to as “Pablo”) on Election Day before First Lady Remi Tinubu (“Aunty Remi”) finishes her breakfast around 12 noon.

This statement underscores Bashir’s confidence in Obi’s ability to galvanize support across different regions and demographics.

The 2027 presidential election is shaping up to be a fiercely contested battle, with both Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi positioning themselves as strong contenders.

Bashir’s comments suggest that Obi’s grassroots support and youthful appeal could significantly disrupt Atiku’s ambitions.

As the election approaches, political observers are closely monitoring potential coalitions and strategic moves that could redefine the balance of power in Nigeria.

Some key players to watch in the 2027 election include Atiku Abubakar Former Vice President and PDP candidate in 2019 and 2023.
