Authorities in Benin have arrested around a dozen soldiers linked to the country’s recent failed coup attempt, security and military sources told AFP on Sunday.
Ringleaders in Custody
Sources confirmed that 13 people have been detained so far. All the suspects are active-duty soldiers, except one former military officer believed to have been part of the plot.
Government Tightens Security
The arrests come just hours after a group of soldiers attempted to overthrow the government, sparking tension in parts of Cotonou and prompting increased military patrols.
Officials said investigations are ongoing, and more updates are expected as authorities work to uncover the full network behind the foiled operation.
