A tragic incident has left a family and community in shock after a man allegedly killed his wife before taking his own life in Bomet County.
The incident reported by Kenyan CitizenTV happened in the Kipraisi area of Konoin, where a 39-year-old man, Nicholas Rotich, is said to have attacked his 27-year-old wife, Faith Rotich.
According to the Konoin Sub-County Police Commander, Mohammed Godana, the man used a panga to inflict serious injuries on his wife, leading to her death from heavy bleeding.
After the attack, Rotich reportedly left the house, went to a nearby tree, and hanged himself. His body was later discovered by neighbours.
Police said the couple had been dealing with long-standing domestic issues, despite efforts by family members and friends to resolve their differences.
The couple is survived by three children, who have now been left without both parents.
Authorities visited the scene, and the bodies were taken to the mortuary at Kapkatet Hospital.
The incident has once again raised concerns about domestic violence and its devastating consequences.
