Besiktas and Fenerbahce Target Tolu Arokodare as Wolves Future Remains Uncertain

Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has emerged as a major transfer target for Turkish giants Beşiktaş J.K. and Fenerbahçe S.K. as uncertainty continues to surround his future at Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Super Eagles forward has attracted growing interest from clubs across Europe following a difficult campaign in England, with reports from Turkey suggesting both Besiktas and Fenerbahce are closely monitoring his situation as they prepare to strengthen their squads for next season.

Arokodare joined Wolves from Belgian side KRC Genk last summer in a transfer reportedly worth around €26 million. The move came after the Nigerian striker enjoyed an impressive period in Belgium, where his goalscoring performances established him as one of the most exciting African forwards playing in Europe.

At Genk, the towering striker earned praise for his physical strength, aerial dominance, finishing ability, and intelligent movement inside the penalty area. His performances in the Belgian Pro League attracted interest from several European clubs before Wolves eventually secured his signature in a bid to strengthen their attack ahead of the Premier League season.

However, life in England proved more difficult than expected for the Nigerian international. Adapting to the pace and intensity of Premier League football became a major challenge for the 25 year old striker during his debut season at Molineux.

Although Arokodare managed six goals and two assists in 38 appearances across all competitions, many football analysts considered his overall contribution below expectations for a striker signed to help improve Wolves’ attacking output.

The season also proved disappointing for Wolves collectively as the club struggled throughout the campaign before eventually suffering relegation to the English Championship. The poor results increased pressure on both players and management, with several members of the squad becoming subjects of transfer speculation immediately after relegation was confirmed.

Arokodare’s future quickly became one of the most discussed topics among supporters and football observers, particularly after reports emerged suggesting tensions inside the dressing room during the closing stages of the season.

Reports in English media claimed the Nigerian striker was involved in a disagreement with teammate Mateus Mane, a situation that allegedly contributed to uncertainty surrounding his long term future at the club. While neither Wolves nor the player publicly addressed the matter in detail, speculation surrounding a possible departure intensified in recent weeks.

As interest in the striker increased, Turkish clubs Besiktas and Fenerbahce reportedly identified Arokodare as a potential attacking reinforcement ahead of next season.

Besiktas are believed to be particularly interested in the Nigerian because of his physical presence and ability to dominate defenders in aerial situations. The Istanbul club is expected to rebuild parts of its squad this summer as management seeks to improve the team’s performances domestically and in European competitions.

Football analysts in Turkey believe Arokodare’s playing style could fit perfectly into the Turkish Super Lig, where physically strong strikers with aerial ability have traditionally enjoyed success. His combination of size, pace, and direct attacking movement is seen as a valuable asset capable of strengthening Besiktas’ frontline.

Fenerbahce are also reportedly monitoring the situation closely as the club continues efforts to assemble a squad capable of competing for the Turkish league title and making progress in Europe next season.

Sources in Turkish media claim the club’s technical department has been assessing several attacking options, with Arokodare emerging as one of the names under serious consideration due to his experience in Belgium and England.

Despite the growing rumours linking him with a move away from Wolves, Arokodare recently surprised many supporters after posting an emotional message to Wolves fans on social media.

In the message, the striker thanked supporters for standing behind the team during a difficult season and stated that he looked forward to seeing them again next campaign. The statement immediately sparked fresh debate among fans regarding whether the Nigerian international could remain at the club despite strong transfer interest.

Some supporters interpreted the message as a sign of commitment to helping Wolves return to the Premier League, while others believe it may simply reflect professionalism as transfer discussions continue behind the scenes.

Although no official offer has yet been confirmed, reports suggest Wolves may still consider selling the striker if suitable bids arrive during the transfer window. Turkish media previously indicated Besiktas were considering a bid worth around €15 million, though Wolves are believed to value the Nigerian forward significantly higher.

For Arokodare, the coming months may prove decisive in shaping the next phase of his professional career. A move to Turkey could provide the striker with an opportunity to rediscover consistency and confidence in a league that many observers believe suits his playing style.

The uncertainty surrounding his club future may also influence his standing within the Nigerian national team setup as the Super Eagles continue preparations for future competitions, including the Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

For Nigerian football fans, the hope remains that Arokodare can continue developing into one of the country’s leading attacking players regardless of where he eventually plays next season.
