Bloodbath as loyalists mark Biafra Day of Remembrance
Pockets of blood spill have been reported in certain parts of Southeastern and Southsouthern Nigeria as pro-Biafrans mark annual Remembrance Day.
30th May is set aside yearly to mark Remembrance Day by pro-Biafrans across the country.
According to a report by a Biafran blogger, soldier invaded the building where they gathered to pass the night in preparation of the event.
They released tear-gas (canisters) and live bullets an in the process four (4) of their members were shot.
According to same report, “at Uga junction in Anambra state, IPOB [Indigenous People of Biafra] called on air to report that the Navy are asking everyone raise up their hands and shooting sporadically.
“At Asaba Ipob are destroying the police Van in anger [over] how they were attacked by the police.
“A combined force of civil defense, mobile police, army and navy are still at Nkpor junction round about, and towards St Edmond Catholic Church waiting for IPOB coming for heroes’ remembrance.
The report also adds that ‘the Nigeria army and police in Nkpor are killing people and taking their corpses to unknown destination.”
Earlier, Elombah.com had reported that operatives of the Nigeria Army invaded a Catholic Church in Nkpor, near Onitsha, Anambra State which might not be unconnected with the event.
The invasion reportedly took place in the wee hours of Monday while congregants were participating in Mass.
Reason of the attack is yet to be ascertained as the Army is yet to make official statement to the effect.
According to available reports, some congregants were shot dead.
