Boko Haram Commander threatens Banki residents in Borno

Published

on

Recently, a suspected Boko Haram commander named Mulwuta has reportedly threatened Banki residents with violence if they ignore his demands.

The border town in Borno State’s Bama LGA now faces renewed terror risks, sparking widespread alarm.

Additionally, Mulwuta demanded the community “repent” by Ramadan or face slaughter “like goats,” local sources revealed. This ultimatum has heightened fears in an area already scarred by past insurgent attacks.

However, the threat has deeply unsettled Banki’s residents, who have endured repeated violence for years. Many now fear renewed conflict could destabilize their fragile recovery efforts.

Meanwhile, some locals dismiss Mulwuta’s warning, citing past resilience. One resident argued, “Shekau couldn’t control Banki with all his fighters—how can this minor threat succeed?”

Nobody should take him seriously.” Despite this sentiment, the threat has added to the already tense atmosphere in the region.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. Security experts urge proactive protection for Banki residents as Boko Haram threats persist.

Meanwhile, deployment plans remain unclear despite escalating risks. The jihadist group maintains deadly operations across northeast Nigeria, targeting border communities like Banki through civilian attacks and infrastructure destruction.

With Ramadan approaching, locals demand intensified security measures to prevent insurgent strikes.

This highlights ongoing challenges in stabilizing conflict zones.

Authorities now face mounting pressure to assess threats and implement protective actions, with further updates expected as the situation evolves.
