Kwara State Governor Abdulraham Abdulrazaq has confirmed that at least 75 Muslims were killed in a terrorist attack in Woro and Nuku communities, describing it as a brutal massacre of innocent civilians.

The victims were attacked by Islamist extremists for refusing to submit to an ideology deemed strange and extremist.

In a statement shared on its official Facebook page, the Kwara government announced that President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate deployment of an army battalion to respond to the attack.

Governor Abdulrazaq disclosed this during a visit to Kaiama Local Government Area on Wednesday night.

The deployment, the government explained, will support counter-offensive operations under a military initiative codenamed Operation Savannah Shield.

The governor also expressed condolences to residents of Woro and Nuku communities, which were affected by the attacks.

The governor noted that the attack appeared to be an attempt to distract security forces, who have recorded significant successes in dismantling terrorist and kidnapping networks across several parts of Kwara State.
