Boko Haram: Troops rescue 80y.o. man from terrorists

The atrocities of the Boko Haram terrorists knew no bound. 

Troops of 29 Task Force Brigade rescued an 80 year old man in Shaltimari village, Borno State yesterday 1st May 2016.

The troops rescued the man while on clearance operations of remnants of Boko Haram terrorists.

The elderly man, Mallam Ibrahim Matuk stated that he suffered untold hardship in the hands of the Boko Haram terrorists.

He said they killed all his children while in captivity.

Meanwhile, the ever hardworking military intelligence has grabbed the suspected killer of Major General Mohammed Shuwa (rtd), Commander 3 Brigade.

The army promised to will parade him and brief the press in Kano shortly.

Later this month Nigeria will host an International Summit on the fight against Boko Haram. 

President Francois Hollande of France expected to attend the event.

Just last week, Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Gabriel Olonisakin paid official visits to Niger & Cameroon.

The aim was to discuss stronger security cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

In the meantime, President Paul Biya of Cameroon will begin a two-day state visit to Nigeria on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

President Biya will be visiting at the invitation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Both leaders and their officials will confer on issues of common interest to Nigeria and Cameroon.

It will include ongoing bilateral and regional cooperation against terrorism, violent extremism and cross-border crimes.

It is expected that new agreements will be concluded and signed before the end of President Biya’s visit.

The new agreements are aimed to strengthen existing ties, as well as trade and economic relations between Nigeria and Cameroon.

A joint communiqué on the visit and the talks between the two presidents and their officials will be issued.

The communiqué will be issued before President Biya’s departure from Abuja on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
