Borno govt rejects teachers with distance learning certificates for recruitment

The government of Borno State, has announced that it would not consider distance learning certificate holders for promotion and recruitment of teachers in the state.

This was disclosed by the state Teaching Service Board in a circular with reference number TSB/CDN/R.7/VOL1, dated September 14, and addressed to all principals.

The circular, which was signed by Malah Abatcha, the acting director of administration and supplies, on behalf of the executive chairman, said the decision was reached at the board’s meeting held on September 13, 2023.

Meanwhile, no reason was given for the discrimination. Mr Abatcha noted that the policy will take effect immediately.

“Sequel to the Board’s meeting held on 13th September, 2023. I am directed to inform you that the Borno State Teaching Service Board, with effect from the date of this circular, will not consider certificates in distance learning for promotion and recruitment of teachers.

“Hence, all principals are directed to adhere strictly to the circular and bring same to the attention of all teachers, please,” the circular reads.
