An explosion at a school in Abuja suburb, has killed one and left four others injured.
A security source according to Premium Times, revealed that the incident occurred around noon on Monday at an Islamiyyah school in the Kuchibiyu Community, within the Bwari Area Council.
Bwari council area is approximately 42 kilometres from the city centre of Abuja.
Emergency and security operatives, including the police bomb disposal squad, arrived at the scene, and the injured victims were immediately taken to the hospital for immediate medical attention.
Also, a security insider speaking on the sad development said, “The deceased student, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was in possession of a substance suspected to be an improvised explosive device when it detonated, injuring other students and sparking chaos at the school.”
The source also noted that “the students involved were recently admitted to the school, having resumed on 3rd January 2025.”
Police authorities in Abuja are yet to issue a statement in respect to the development.
