BREAKING: ASUU strike continues as Senate meeting ends in deadlock

After three hours closed door meeting between Senate and ASUU, the Upper chamber on Wednesday failed to bring an end to the warning strike by the Union.

After three hours closed door meeting between Senate Leadership and Academic Staff Universities Union [ASUU], the Upper chamber on Wednesday failed to bring an end to the warning strike by the Union.

Chairman, Senate on Tertiary Education and Tetfund, Senator Jubril Barau briefed newsmen in company with ASUU Executive and Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwuka.

He explained that‎ a sub-committee has been set up to resolve the matter before next week Monday.

According to him, we had a fruitful deliberation and a sub-committee has been set-up which will begin sitting tomorrow to find lasting solution to the ASUU Strike.

The Senate had on Tuesday expressed its resolve to intervene in the face-off between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The lawmakers specifically asked Senate President Bukola Saraki to intervene in the matter.

They asked him to prevent ASUU from embarking on a one-week warning strike which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday (today).
