India has launched a missile attack on Pakistan in an escalation of tensions between the two neighbors.
This is coming after militants attack on tourists in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir, which resulted in the death of 26 civilians last month.
India has blamed Pakistan for backing the militant attack, which Islamabad has denied.
Kashmir is one of the world’s most dangerous flashpoints and is controlled in part by India and Pakistan but both countries claim it in its entirety.
India’s Defense Ministry said in a statement Wednesday that at least nine sites were targeted “where terrorist attacks against India have been planned.”
“Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistan military facilities have been targeted,” the statement said, adding that “India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution.
