Relief has swept through the legal community, family circle, and colleagues of National Youth Service Corps member and lawyer, Eunice Ameh, after she was confirmed to have been found safe days after her sudden disappearance in Abuja.

Ameh, who was serving in the Federal Capital Territory under the National Youth Service Corps scheme, was declared missing on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, after she reportedly failed to return home from work. Her disappearance triggered widespread concern, prompting a coordinated response from family members, colleagues, security agencies, and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

By Sunday morning, May 10, 2026, sources familiar with the situation confirmed that the young lawyer had been located unharmed, bringing an end to days of uncertainty and anxiety over her whereabouts. A family source disclosed the development briefly, stating that she had been found safe, though details surrounding her recovery remained unclear at the time of reporting.

The circumstances of how she was found, where she had been during the period she was missing, and what led to her disappearance have not yet been officially disclosed by authorities. Investigations are expected to continue in order to establish a clear account of the events.

Ameh’s disappearance had initially sparked alarm within her workplace and the wider legal profession after she reportedly left her office on Wednesday evening and did not arrive at her residence. She was last seen at approximately 5:40 p.m. on the day she went missing, reportedly on her way home from work.

She had recently begun working as a Sales Manager at Blades and Butchers Ltd, a private company located along Lake Chad Crescent in Maitama, Abuja. According to family accounts, she had only resumed the role about two weeks before her disappearance, in addition to her ongoing NYSC obligations.

Her absence was formally reported to the Maitama Police Division shortly after she was declared missing, while NYSC authorities were also notified. The matter quickly escalated as concern grew over her safety, especially given the lack of communication from her since she left work.

Family members described the period of her disappearance as deeply distressing. They expressed emotional strain and uncertainty as efforts intensified to locate her. At the time, relatives had expressed hope that ongoing police investigations would yield positive results.

The situation also drew a strong response from the Nigerian Bar Association. In a statement issued on Saturday, May 9, 2026, and signed by its President, Afam Osigwe, the association described Ameh’s disappearance as a matter of grave concern that affected the entire legal profession.

The NBA emphasized that the case was not merely a personal issue but one that touched the collective responsibility of the legal community. It called for urgent action from security agencies, urging them to deploy all necessary intelligence and operational resources to secure her safe return.

The association further appealed to the Inspector General of Police to ensure a swift and thorough response, stressing the need to identify any individuals or circumstances connected to her disappearance and to ensure accountability where necessary.

“When a young lawyer goes missing, the pain is not distant to the Nigerian Bar Association, it is personal,” the statement read, reflecting the emotional weight the case carried within legal circles.

The development of her being found safe has therefore been received with widespread relief, particularly among colleagues, NYSC members, and legal practitioners who had followed the situation closely over the past days.

While her recovery has brought closure to the immediate fear of loss, questions remain unanswered regarding the events that transpired between the time she was last seen and her eventual recovery. Security agencies are expected to provide further clarification as investigations continue.

For now, the focus remains on her wellbeing and recovery following what has been described as a traumatic and unsettling experience for those close to her.

Authorities have not yet issued an official detailed statement, but updates are expected as more information becomes available regarding the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and safe return.
