BREAKING: New ADC Faction Emerges, Rejects David Mark-Led Coalition

A fresh leadership crisis has hit the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following the emergence of a new faction that has rejected the authority of a coalition reportedly led by David Mark.

The faction, led by Don Norman Obinna, claims it represents the party’s legitimate National Executive Committee and has moved to take control of its affairs ahead of the next national convention.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, the group distanced itself not only from the David Mark-led coalition but also from another faction linked to Nafiu Bala, deepening internal divisions within the party.

The group argued that the tenure of former party chairman Ralph Nwosu had expired in August 2022, adding that his continued involvement in party matters had led to a series of legal disputes.

It also challenged the credentials of Nafiu Bala, stating that he never held the position of National Vice Chairman, while affirming that former presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu remains a member of the party.

According to the faction, interim leaders have now been appointed to oversee the party’s activities and ensure continuity pending the conduct of a national convention.

The development signals growing instability within the ADC, as multiple power blocs jostle for control ahead of future electoral contests, including the 2027 general elections.
