Ibadan, Nigeria – The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away at the age of 90.

His demise occurred in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, marking the end of an impactful yet brief reign as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Born on July 5, 1935, Oba Olakulehin’s passing comes just two days after celebrating his 90th birthday.

His ascension to the throne took place exactly one year prior, following his official coronation on July 12, 2024.

During the ceremony, he was presented with the staff of office by Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, solidifying his position as the custodian of Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage.
