Rivers State Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu, has dismissed circulating rumors about her resignation from office.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that these speculations arose amid the ongoing political crisis in the state, sparking concerns about her position in government.

In a statement released on Wednesday, March 5, her media aide, Owupele Benebo, addressed the widespread claims.

Deputy Governor Odu described the reports as false, misleading, and an attempt to destabilize the state government.

She reaffirmed her commitment to serving alongside Governor Siminalayi Fubara, urging the public to ignore such speculations.

She assured citizens that she remains dedicated to fulfilling her responsibilities as Deputy Governor of Rivers State.

The political situation in Rivers State has been tense due to conflicts between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

This disagreement has resulted in power struggles, legislative battles, and allegations of impeachment plans against the governor.

Elder statesman Edwin Clark accused Wike of attempting to remove Governor Fubara and force Deputy Governor Odu’s resignation.

Clark claimed the plan aimed to install the Speaker of the House of Assembly as the next governor.

The political crisis has drawn national attention, prompting intervention from President Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu invited key stakeholders, including Deputy Governor Odu, Governor Fubara, former Governor Peter Odili, and Nyesom Wike.

The meeting, held at Aso Rock Villa, sought to resolve the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

Despite this intervention, tensions persist, and political instability remains a major challenge in the state.

The Rivers State House of Assembly has become a battleground for opposing political factions.

Legislative activities have been disrupted due to conflicts between lawmakers loyal to Fubara and those aligned with Wike.

Judicial involvement has further complicated the situation, with court rulings affecting governance in the state.

The Supreme Court recently restrained the Central Bank and the Attorney General from releasing state funds without legislative approval.

Amidst these challenges, Deputy Governor Odu’s public stance brings stability to the state’s leadership.

She continues to work closely with Governor Fubara in addressing the state’s governance and development issues.

Her commitment reassures the people of Rivers State that the administration remains focused on its mandate.

The political crisis in Rivers State remains unresolved, with analysts closely monitoring developments.

The relationship between the executive, legislature, and judiciary will determine the state’s governance trajectory.

Deputy Governor Odu’s role will remain significant as the situation unfolds in the coming months.

In conclusion, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu’s denial of resignation rumors strengthens confidence in the administration.

Her commitment provides stability amidst the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.
