Breaking: Thousands Dump APC, PDP as ADC Storms Bauchi
DDM News

In a major shake-up to Nigeria’s political landscape, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) pulled a political masterstroke on Monday by welcoming a wave of high-profile defectors at a thunderous rally in Bauchi State.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the gathering, held at the Bauchi Township Stadium, drew thousands of energized supporters, disillusioned citizens, and new converts from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The event marked the ADC’s most significant political entry in northern Nigeria since the opposition coalition adopted it as its official platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Described as a “turning point in Nigeria’s democracy,” the rally featured cultural performances, coalition speeches, and a symbolic mass induction of new members—including former lawmakers, local government officials, and grassroots mobilizers.
ADC’s Bauchi State Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa, addressed the ecstatic crowd with bold optimism.
“This is not just a party—this is a people’s movement. Bauchi has spoken, and Nigeria will soon follow,” Musa declared.
He stressed that the ADC stands for inclusive governance, accountability, and practical solutions to urgent national issues like unemployment, education, and poor infrastructure.
The defection wave is the latest boost for the party since a coalition of influential opposition figures—including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, David Mark, and Nasir El-Rufai—agreed to unite under the ADC banner.
Observers say the coalition has created a credible platform to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection bid in 2027.
Among the new members was Danladi Bello, a former APC youth leader, who cited disillusionment with the ruling party.
“I’m tired of empty promises. The ADC is different. They listen,” he said.
Also present was Aisha Usman, a former PDP member and teacher, who stated:
“I joined because they prioritize education. That’s what matters to people like me.”
Despite the fanfare, the ADC still faces internal and external headwinds.
A legal dispute over the legitimacy of its interim national leadership, currently headed by Senator David Mark, has fueled criticism.
APC loyalists have dismissed the coalition as a desperate gang-up of political opportunists with conflicting ambitions.
But ADC leaders are unshaken.
“Our unity is our weapon,” Musa replied. “This is not about egos. It’s about rescuing Nigeria.”
The presence of top coalition representatives at the rally added weight to the ADC’s claim of being Nigeria’s next major political force.
Political analysts say Bauchi was not chosen by accident—it is a strategic swing state and the heart of the northern political matrix.
The rally also featured logistical precision, visible grassroots enthusiasm, and heavy media coverage, signaling a well-funded and coordinated operation behind the scenes.
Sources within the coalition confirmed that similar rallies are planned in Kano, Kaduna, Anambra, Rivers, and Ekiti States in the coming months, as the ADC prepares for an aggressive national rollout.
As Nigeria inches toward another pivotal election, the Bauchi rally has sent a message loud and clear: The opposition is no longer fragmented, and it’s coming for the throne.
While skepticism remains about the coalition’s ability to maintain unity, today, in Bauchi, the ADC didn’t just welcome new members.
