IPOB cautions media on misattributing movement members

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) global family and movement has warned some media outlets to refrain from disparaging IPOB by linking someone to the movement who has repeatedly said that he is not an IPOB member.
According to Comrade Emma Powerful, the IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, IPOB has distanced itself from the media outlets both domestically and globally, including the global movement from printed and electronic media outlets, as well as its Biafra government in exile, which includes their present prime minister.
In his words: “The global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) caution some media houses to stop insulting IPOB by attaching someone to the movement who have on several occasions said he is not an IPOB member.
“IPOB have severely disassociated itself to the media houses both locally and internationally including associated global movement from printing and electronic media houses from attaching those autopilots and their Biafra government in Exile including their current prime minister in Exile.
“We warn those media houses attaching the content creator to please stop… they are not IPOB members and can never be.
“IPOB and its leader Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu are different people, not members of government in Exile.
“Any self serving on these individuals to keep tagging a content creator to the noble IPOB family will soon be defeated.
“If the purpose of these traducers in some sections of the print and electronic media is to pander to a warped sentiment that seeks to demean and demonise IPOB for the benefit of Fulani killer herdsmen and their sponsors, then they have failed.
“Simon Ekpa is a self confessed content creator and the head of a group of social media content creators known as Autopilots which were never part of the IPOB structure.
“So why the persistence in attaching somebody who declared publicly that he is not a member of IPOB to the peaceful movement?
“IPOB’s pursuit of self determination through the instrumentality of a UN supervised referendum is our only stated mission.
“Any entity or media house attaching or forcibly ascribing IPOB membership to nonentities or whomsoever they like are only being mischievous and not intereated in true journalism.
“We suggest that these individuals associating content creators to IPOB to please conduct minor research into the speech and publicly stated utterances of these clueless and uninformed individuals masquerading as Autopilots to ascertain once and for all that they are not part of IPOB”, the statement concluded.
Earlier, IPOB urged Igbos to return home, assures security…
Through its Directorate of State (DOS), the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) urged Biafrans and Ndigbo to spend Christmas in their homeland.
According to Diaspora Digital Media, it promised that over the holiday season, its Eastern Security Network (ESN) agents would maintain security and a calm environment.
Comrade Emma Powerful, the Media and Publicity Secretary for IPOB, issued a statement in which the organization underlined its role in promoting peace and development and reaffirmed its commitment to combating insecurity in the South East.
Alaigbo has historically been a peaceful region, according to IPOB, and all Igbos are encouraged to help preserve harmony as it is essential to the region’s economic development.
While accusing the Nigerian government of escalating regional instability through militarization and purported subordination, the organization emphasized that peace and security in the South East should not lag behind other parts of Nigeria.
“We need peace to thrive as a strategic economic hub in Africa. Every Igbo man and woman must work towards peace and security in Alaigbo”, the statement added.
In order to promote development and generate employment opportunities for the youth of the region, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to obtaining investments in the South East and urged Igbos to bring their money home.
Since IPOB volunteers and ESN agents are actively working to make the South East unsuitable for criminal activity, IPOB advised criminals to avoid the area, particularly during the Christmas season.
