The Governor of Cross River State [above with President Buhari], His Excellency Ben Ayade was booed at the PDP National Secretariat Abuja.
Staff of the Secretariat booed the Governor because it is the first time since he was inaugurated as governor a year ago.
The governor was at the Secretariat to lobby for the acceptance of his doctored nomination list for the ward congresses as they prepare for the National Convention.
A staff of the National Secretariat said Governor Ayade was apparently cut to sizes as his list was rejected and was asked to leave the Secretariat.
“Governor Ben Ayade has been carrying on as if the PDP National Secretariat does not exist.
“He has been too friendly with the APC led government in the centre than all other governors of PDP.
“He rushes to Aso Rock every now and then without remembering that the PDP Head Quarters exist.”
Another staff of the Secretariat said “that rumors have been circulated at the Secretariat by prominent PDP politicians from CRS that Governor Ben Ayade is decamping to the APC.
“We have been waiting patiently and observing his body language.
“We are surprised that the governor could even dream of organising the ward congresses in his State in the first place.”
“We have no issues against him in person.
“But the way he has treated the party is not what a rational individual would do after winning elections under the PDP.
“We are aware that governor Ben Ayade has been secretly romancing the APC and paying salaries of APC staff in Calabar.”
We are aware of his contribution to the making of a minister and how his office celebrated it.”
Rumors have gone round that he even furnished the apartments for some APC ministers against the payment of salaries to his PDP appointees in Cross River State.
Why then is he refusing to go to APC after all these contributions to them? He queried.
After the kick in the butt, Governor Ayade quickly ran to the South South governor’s forum to show solidarity to the cause of the governors.
Ayade was seen hanging out and stretching his neck from the sidelines from Asaba, Delta State, where the meeting took place.
Information available also has it that some politicians from CRS may have also reported Governor Ayade to the national chairman of the party.
