China has called for an immediate halt to the fighting in the Middle East, urging all sides to step back from further escalation and return to dialogue.

Speaking after talks in Beijing with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, China’s top diplomat, Wang Yi, said the situation cannot be allowed to deteriorate any further.

He stressed that restarting hostilities would only deepen the crisis, adding that negotiations remain the only realistic path forward.

Wang also pushed for the quick reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as critical to global trade and stability.

According to him, the international community is expecting urgent action to restore safe and normal shipping through the route.

China has a strong stake in the outcome. A large portion of its oil imports passes through the strait, making any disruption a direct threat to its energy supply and economic stability.

On the nuclear issue, Wang welcomed Iran’s pledge not to pursue nuclear weapons but maintained that the country has the right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

Behind the scenes, Beijing has been working quietly to ease tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Its diplomatic efforts are believed to have contributed to the fragile ceasefire currently in place.

Wang said China would continue to play an active role in calming the situation supporting peace talks and pushing for a long-term resolution to the conflict.
