(DDM) – A Lagos High Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of one Rahmat Animashaun after she failed to appear before the court on July 9, 2025, in connection with a high-profile criminal case filed against her by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Justice Ibikunke Harrison of the Lagos High Court sitting in Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) issued the order following Rahmat’s unexplained absence.

The court directed law enforcement agencies to arrest and present her in court on the next hearing date, scheduled for September 29, 2025, and on all subsequent adjournments, pending further instructions.

The Lagos State government, through its DPP, has slammed a four-count criminal charge on the defendant.

The charges include perjury, false accusation, providing misleading information to public officers, and attempting to pervert the course of justice, all considered serious offences under the Lagos State Criminal Law.

According to court documents, the first count accuses Rahmat of perjury.

The prosecution alleges that on November 4, 2022, at the Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, Lagos, Rahmat deliberately made a false statement intended to institute criminal proceedings against a man identified as Adewale Olatunji.

This act allegedly contravenes Section 86 of the state’s criminal code.

In the second count, Rahmat is accused of falsely implicating Olatunji in the alleged defilement of a child and sexual assault by penetration, offences considered among the gravest under Sections 137 and 261 of the Lagos State Criminal Law.

Her accusation reportedly led to his wrongful arrest and criminal charge.

Count three details how Rahmat allegedly gave false information to both police officers at Zone 2 and officials of the DPP with the intent to mislead them and cause reputational and legal harm to the same Olatunji. This act is said to violate Section 96 of the law.

The fourth count accuses her of attempting to pervert the course of justice, an offence under Section 97(3). The prosecution argues that the totality of Rahmat’s actions was calculated to obstruct the due administration of justice.

At the time of filing this report, Rahmat Animashaun has not entered a plea, as her continued absence stalls trial proceedings. Her known address is listed as The Orchard, 22B Onef Yesufy Abiodun Way, Oniru, Lagos.

Legal analysts say this case has drawn public interest, especially in the context of increasing false accusations that lead to the destruction of lives and careers before the truth emerges.

The Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions is personally leading the case, indicating the seriousness with which the state views the matter.

Observers now await the next court date to see if Rahmat will be apprehended and brought to answer the charges against her.
