An Abuja High Court has issued an interim injunction barring Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike and others from proceeding with the sale of a disputed land located at Plot No. 4411, Cadastral Zone A09, Guzape District, Abuja.

From the information made available to Diaspora digital media (DDM), this court order came after an ex-parte motion was filed by the applicant’s legal counsel, Reuben Atabo, SAN.

The motion, marked M/16807/2024, was presented to the court on Monday, and the certified true copy of the ruling was made available to the press on Tuesday.

The judge, Justice Mohammed Zubairu, issued the order following careful consideration of the application.

As a vacation judge, Justice Zubairu explained that he had granted the injunction in the interest of justice, ensuring that all parties involved were given a fair hearing.

The injunction is set to last only for a few days, giving enough time for all parties to be served and appear before the court for a full hearing of the matter.

The order is intended to remain in effect until the court hears and determines the motion on notice.

The background to the case involves the controversial actions of Nyesom Wike, whose tenure as FCT Minister has been marked by accusations of arrogance and heavy-handedness in his dealings with various land and property matters in Abuja.

Wike’s actions, often seen as overbearing, have generated tensions with local landowners and residents, particularly in the Guzape District, where the disputed land is located.

Critics have alleged that Wike, in his position of power, has used his office to forcefully seize land under questionable circumstances.

His disregard for the due process of law and his aggressive approach in handling land disputes have raised eyebrows, further fueling resentment among those who feel that their rights are being trampled upon.

The court’s decision to issue the injunction is seen as a corrective measure, designed to prevent any further attempts to illegally sell or transfer the disputed property.

The ruling sends a strong message to Wike and others in positions of power, urging them to respect the rule of law and ensuring that justice prevails.

This is a significant step toward holding public officials accountable, particularly in situations where their actions may be seen as abusing power and undermining the rights of citizens.

The case is ongoing, and the court will soon hear the full motion.

The interim order will remain in place until a final determination is made.
