Court Restrains Kano State Government from Managing LGAs’ Funds

In a recent development, the Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an interim order restraining the Kano State Government from managing, controlling, administering, and disbursing funds and allocations belonging to the 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Kano State in the State Local Government Account. The order is in effect pending the hearing and determination of a motion on notice.

Justice D.U Okorowo granted the interim order based on an ex parte motion dated December 27, 2023, accompanied by supporting affidavits and highlighting the urgency of the matter. The court also issued an interim injunction to prevent tampering with the funds and allocations of the 44 LGAs in Kano State Joint LG Account. This serves to maintain the status quo by all parties involved until the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
