LAGOS, NIGERIA — The Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide has called on government authorities to take urgent and decisive steps to address rising inflation and worsening economic conditions affecting millions of Nigerians.

The appeal was made during a church gathering in Lagos, Nigeria, where leaders expressed deep concern over the growing hardship faced by citizens amid escalating prices of food, transportation, and essential services.

Church officials warned that the current economic strain is placing severe pressure on families, businesses, and vulnerable communities, with many struggling to meet basic needs in an increasingly difficult environment.

They urged policymakers to prioritise economic stability by implementing policies that would reduce inflation, strengthen the value of the national currency, and improve access to affordable goods and services.

In addition to economic concerns, the church also highlighted ongoing security challenges across different parts of the country, stressing that safety and stability remain critical to national development.

Leaders emphasised that insecurity continues to disrupt livelihoods, displace communities, and undermine investor confidence, further complicating efforts to revive the economy.

The church called for a coordinated national response that combines effective governance, economic reforms, and strengthened security measures to address the root causes of the country’s challenges.

While urging government action, the church also encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayer, unity, and collective responsibility, noting that spiritual support remains essential in times of crisis.

Religious leaders at the event stressed the importance of moral leadership, transparency, and accountability in public service, calling on those in authority to act in the best interest of the people.

They further appealed for increased collaboration between government institutions, religious bodies, and civil society organisations to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development.

Observers note that religious institutions in Nigeria continue to serve as influential voices in shaping public discourse, particularly on matters affecting welfare, governance, and national unity.

Participants at the gathering expressed hope that the government would heed the call and take concrete steps to alleviate economic hardship while strengthening security across the country.

As inflationary pressures persist and concerns over insecurity remain, the church’s message adds to growing calls from various sectors urging urgent reforms and decisive leadership to stabilise the nation.
