The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Area Command, has intercepted 6,035 wraps of cannabis sativa valued at over N2 billion in different locations across Ogun State.
The Area Comptroller, Olukayode Afeni, disclosed this on Thursday while handing over the seized drugs to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Idiroko.
Afeni said the seizure had a Duty Paid Value of N2,087,603,186.76 and was handed over to the NDLEA in line with established procedures for further investigation.
He warned drug traffickers to desist from smuggling illicit substances, noting that the Customs Service would continue to intensify efforts to secure Nigeria’s borders.
The comptroller also disclosed that the command had, from January to date, handed over 32,412 parcels of hard drugs and 92 sacks of raw cannabis sativa to the NDLEA.
The NDLEA commended the Customs Service for the seizure and reaffirmed its commitment to working with the agency to disrupt drug-smuggling networks.
