Dangote Petroleum Refinery Commences Diesel and Aviation Fuel Production

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially begun production of diesel and aviation fuel, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s energy sector. Anthony Chiejina, the Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, confirmed the commencement of operations, highlighting the refinery’s focus on diesel and aviation fuel. However, petrol production is yet to be realized.
In a statement released by the Dangote Group, Chairman Aliko Dangote expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of various entities, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, regulatory authorities, and Nigerians. Dangote hailed this achievement as a game-changer for Nigeria, showcasing the nation’s capability to develop and deliver large-scale projects.
Dangote Refinery, located in the Dangote Industries Free Zone, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, is a substantial project with a refining capacity of 650,000 barrels per day. The facility, covering approximately 2,635 hectares, has already received six shipments of one million barrels each of crude oil. The refinery’s design adheres to international emission norms, emphasizing compliance with environmental standards.
Acknowledging the contributions of bankers, financiers, the Lagos State Government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and host communities, the Dangote Group highlighted the refinery’s potential impact on the Nigerian economy. The statement also mentioned the refinery’s ability to load 2,900 trucks a day at its truck-loading gantries.
Anticipation surrounds the Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s potential to bring about a reduction in the price of petroleum products, providing hope for positive changes in the nation’s energy landscape.
