The  Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, yesterday, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to call for a referendum for Nigerians to decide if they want to stay as one country or not, just like Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK),  David Cameron, did over the UK membership of the European Union EU.

Their response to Buhari emerged just as a new militant group sets date for bombing of Bonga field, Onitsha -Asaba, 3rd Mainland bridges.

The new deadly militant group, the Asawana Deadly Force of Niger Delta, ADFND, which on Thursday claimed to have taking over from the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, yesterday slated coming Saturday July 2nd, 2016, as the day it will bomb Bonga Field, Onitsha -Asaba bridge, Third Mainland bridge, and other major bridges across the southern of the country.

NDA, which unveiled its plan for what it called a Sovereign State of Niger Delta, on May 12, called for a referendum while reacting to last Friday’s appeal by Buhari to Niger Delta militants, in God’s name, to cease the bombing of oil and gas installations in the region.

The militant group, in separate  resposes yesterday, said: “He (Buhari) should call for a referendum to enable every Nigerian  to vote if  they want to stay as Nigerians or not just like what David Cameron of  Great Britain did.”

A Vanguard reporter had asked: “Buhari is appealing to Niger Delta militants to stop the bombings in the region in God’s name because of the destruction to the economy, what is your group’s response to his appeal?”

NDA, which vowed over a month and a half ago “to display our currency, flag, passport, our ruling council and our territory to the world by October 16,” seemed indifferent  to the appeal.

A statement by the new Asawana Deadly Force of Niger Delta, signed by its leader, Commander Olomubini Kakarakokoro, a.k.a No Mercy, said “We are bombing Bonga field, Onitsha -Asaba bridge, Third Mainland bridge, and other major bridges across the southern of the country, on Saturday 2nd July,2016.”

“This is not a mere threat. The only way out is for the Federal Government to relocate all headquarters of major oil companies to Niger Delta. They are built with our oil money. They must be moved back to the Niger Delta region.”

“If the federal government fails before the said day, we shall surely carry out the attack. The companies which headquarters we want back now include; Chevron,Agip and Shell which has their headquarters in Lagos.”

“In addition, the federal government should move all refineries to the Niger Delta. This is without further delay as we shall meet further delay with corresponding colossal damage in the mentioned places on the said date.” “We wants to tell President Buhari that now that the going is getting tough, the tough has to get going,” it says.
