Delta Police Arrest Drug Suspects, Rescue Kidnapped Woman

(DDM) – The Delta State Police Command has successfully arrested two suspected drug traffickers and rescued a kidnapped woman in separate operations across the state.

DDM correspondent reports that Police Spokesperson SP Bright Edafe confirmed the arrests and rescue during a briefing in Asaba.

According to the spokesperson, operatives from the state’s Crack Squad raided a hideout in Effurun, apprehending two individuals and seizing large quantities of codeine, tramadol, and cannabis.

The recovered substances are believed to have been destined for illegal distribution across Delta State, highlighting ongoing concerns about narcotics trafficking in the region.

In a separate operation, officers from the Ovian-Aladja Police Division tracked a woman who had been abducted earlier in the day.

The kidnappers were located in a forested area near Iyara community, where the police successfully rescued the victim unharmed and apprehended some suspects.

SP Edafe noted that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend additional members of the drug and kidnapping syndicate, stressing that no effort would be spared in bringing fleeing suspects to justice.

The operations underscore Delta State Police Command’s commitment to curbing organized crime, ensuring public safety, and maintaining law and order.

Security analysts say these actions reflect improved intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities by Delta State police units, particularly in high-risk areas prone to criminal activity.
