The Delta State police command arrested Ezekiel Elijah for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old physically impaired girl.
Delta State Police Spokesperson Bright Edafe disclosed this in a statement, accompanied by a video showing the suspect being interrogated.
Edafe captioned the video, “Rape is different from defilement; for defilement, the consent of the underage girl is immaterial.”
He added, “In this case, the 13-year-old girl he defiled is even physically impaired. He took advantage of this child.”
The 22-year-old suspect, during interrogation, claimed to be from Aviara in Isoko South Local Government Area.
He admitted to the crime, stating that “the girl doesn’t hear clearly,” but claimed he didn’t know she was 13 years old.
“I knew her from the street. Two of them were passing, I called them, but none answered,” he narrated.
After they took three steps, one of them came back to him. He asked her to come to his house.
She accepted and followed him to his house, where he allegedly defiled her.
Edafe stated that the suspect would be charged to court in due course
