(DDM) – The Delta State Police Command has announced significant security achievements across the state in 2025, highlighting successful operations that disrupted criminal activities and enhanced public safety.
The announcement was made on December 16, 2025, at the Police Command Headquarters in Asaba, where officials detailed the outcomes of various intelligence-led operations conducted throughout the year.
Authorities reported the recovery of 144 firearms, along with 6,930 rounds of ammunition, reflecting a concerted effort to tackle illegal arms circulation and violent crime in Delta State.
Additionally, the police recovered ₦36 million in ransom money, underscoring the impact of their efforts on curbing kidnapping and ransom-related activities in the region.
A total of 627 suspects were arrested during the operations, spanning offenses such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent crimes, signaling a strengthened law enforcement presence in troubled communities.
DDM gathered that 18 kidnapped victims were rescued, providing relief to affected families and reinforcing the police’s commitment to combating the menace of abductions in Delta State.
Authorities also reported the recovery of 28 vehicles used in criminal activities, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to disrupting criminal networks and dismantling their operational capabilities.
The Delta Police attributed these successes to intelligence-led policing strategies, including collaboration with local communities, informants, and other security agencies to preempt and respond to criminal threats.
Police officials urged residents to continue providing timely and accurate information, emphasizing that public cooperation remains essential in sustaining security gains and preventing future crimes.
Security analysts have noted that Delta State has historically faced challenges with kidnapping, armed robbery, and cult-related activities, making the 2025 operations a notable achievement in restoring law and order.
The recovered firearms and ammunition are expected to be catalogued and destroyed according to legal procedures, while suspects will face prosecution under Nigeria’s criminal laws.
Police commanders emphasized that the operations are part of a broader strategy to reduce violent crime, enhance public safety, and build trust between law enforcement and communities across the state.
Officials also highlighted plans to strengthen surveillance, enhance rapid response teams, and continue community policing initiatives to prevent recurrences of violent incidents.
The state government has commended the Delta Police Command for its proactive approach, acknowledging the critical role of intelligence gathering and citizen cooperation in the success of these operations.
Experts have suggested that sustained intelligence-led policing, coupled with community engagement, can serve as a model for other states grappling with similar security challenges.
Residents have welcomed the police’s efforts, expressing optimism that the enhanced security measures will create a safer environment for businesses, schools, and daily life across Delta State.
The 2025 operations mark a major milestone in the ongoing fight against violent crime, with the Delta Police Command demonstrating both operational capacity and commitment to upholding law and order.
