Further to a report published earlier by this medium, News Band is in possession of documents showing fresh efforts by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who hired fresh lawyers, to block the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), the Department of State and other agencies from releasing files believed to contain his criminal records.

In the previous report, News Band reported that Tinubu has reportedly commenced moves to block the records from being released by the US intelligence agency and others ahead of the October deadline slated for the release of his files.

The report noted that court filings showed Tinubu’s lawyers in the US have filed motions to appear in an ongoing Freedom of Information (FoI) action lodged against the US organisations where records that may help answer questions about his real identity and decades-long endeavours are kept.

Christopher Carmichael, one of the lawyers who represented Tinubu in the recent Chicago State University (CSU) case, filed the motion, dated October 18, 2023, stating that he was a lawyer in good standing to appear in the case in the FOIA lawsuit underway in Washington D.C.

The lawyer filed a pro hac vice application to represent him in court to stop the release of his criminal records and have applied to insert themselves into the FoI action case in order to delay the release of the FBI documents at least until after the judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
