Don’t remove the ladder you used in climbing, Wike cautions Fubara

Former governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has warned his successor, Sim Fubara and other politicians in the State not to destroy the ladder they used in getting to exalted positions.

“Don’t pull the ladder that you use in climbing. When you are coming down, the ladder may not be there and leave the ladder too so that other people can also climb the ladder,” Wike said on Sunday.

The PDP chieftain who has been enmeshed in a dispute with the incumbent governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara, spoke at his residence in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital while addressing the paramount rulers of Ogbaland who visited him.

The traditional rulers led by Nwachukwu Nnam-Obi III, visited Wike to congratulate him on the occasion of his 56th birthday.

The monarchs used the opportunity to sue for peace over the lingering political tension in the state.

However, while responding to the call by the traditional rulers to give peace a chance, Wike assured them that he will listen to their advice and that he is open to peaceful resolutions.

Speaking further, the minister refuted claims that the political imbroglio in the state is an ethnic war, insisting that there is no such consideration.
